Google has announced significant updates to its artificial intelligence (AI); and introduced ‘Gemini,’, ‘ a groundbreaking AI system poised to challenge OpenAI’s GPT-4 dominance. Google CEO Sundar Pichai claimed that Gemini has evolved into a comprehensive ecosystem supporting diverse applications and platforms.
Gemini’s flagship model, the Ultra 1.0, debuted in December, setting unprecedented standards across text, image, audio, and video domains. Now, Google has announced its integration into a subscription-based service, making the new advanced technology accessible to a broader audience. Pichai claims that Ultra 1.0 surpasses human experts on MMLU (Massive Multitask Language Understanding), a test of knowledge and problem-solving abilities across 57 subjects.
Formerly known as ‘Bard,” Gemini represents a unique collaborative experience with AI, boasting various features designed to revolutionize user experience. Gemini Advanced, an exclusive new feature, grants users’ access to Google’s most advanced AI model. Gemini Advanced is tailored to tackle intricate tasks, including coding, logical reasoning, and fostering creative collaboration.
The introduction of Gemini Advanced coincides with the Google One AI Premium Plan launch, priced at $19.99 per month, offering users a two-month free trial period. A mobile app has also been launched alongside Gemini Advanced, designed to support easy collaboration with Google AI technologies.
Although Google did not explicitly mention ChatGPT during its briefing, the actions taken are the company’s indirect reaction to the ChatGPT application. In recent weeks, Google has often compared its Bard chatbot to ChatGPT. Furthermore, like GPT-4, Google recently integrated an Imagen-2-based image creator into its chatbot. The Gemini application, Gemini Advanced, and Google One AI Premium reflect Google’s efforts to integrate the AI tool more deeply within the Android ecosystem.
