Ukraine sells war NFTs to raise funds for army and citizens

The Russian invasion of Ukraine started a little more than a month ago, and the nation under attack is doing everything it can to continue to fight against one of the largest armies in the world.

In the latest development, Ukraine has started selling NFTs (non-fungible tokens) of the Russian invasion timeline to raise funds for its army and its citizens.

Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov shared the information on social media, tweeting the link to the new NFTs, listed under a collection titled “Meta History: Museum of War.”

“While Russia uses tanks to destroy Ukraine, we rely on revolutionary blockchain tech. @Meta_History_UA NFT-Museum is launched. The place to keep the memory of war. And the place to celebrate the Ukrainian identity and freedom. Check here: https://metahistory.gallery/warline,” Fedorov tweeted.

The link in the tweet shows a timeline of the war that started on February 24 to February 26. The timeline includes important decisions taken during the first three days, like “Putin has just launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine” on February 24 at 6 AM, followed by “Martial law has been introduced in Ukraine” at 9 AM.

NFT has become a buzzword of late. In other news, with NFTs taking centre stage, a non-fungible token was created for the original arrest warrant of Nelson Mandela, who was an anti-apartheid activist. The NFT was sold for a whopping US 130,000 at an auction to fund a heritage site.

Mandela was arrested in 1962 and was imprisoned for 27 years. Mandela became South Africa’s first Black President from 1994 to 1999.
