Really happy Elon Musk is joining Twitter Board: Jack Dorsey

Jack Dorsey, the former chief executive officer (CEO) of Twitter, has welcomed the move to bring Elon Musk to the company’s Board on Tuesday. Elon Musk on Monday became the most significant stakeholder in Twitter by holding 9.2% of shares in the microblogging site. Musk has 73.5 million Twitter shares, owned by Elon Musk Revocable Trust.

“I’m really happy Elon is joining the Twitter board! He cares deeply about our world and Twitter’s role in it. Parag and Elon both lead with their hearts, and they will be an incredible team,” Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter, tweeted.

Earlier, the incumbent CEO of Twitter, Parag Agrawal, announced appointing Musk to the Board through tweets.

“I’m excited to share that we’re appointing @elonmusk to our Board! Through conversations with Elon in recent weeks, it became clear to us that he would bring great value to our Board,” Agrawal tweeted.

Musk, the SpaceX and Tesla CEO, said he was looking forward to working with Parag Agrawal.

“Looking forward to working with Parag & Twitter board to make significant improvements to Twitter in coming months!” Musk responded to Parag.

Musk has been quite critical of Twitter of late and has even questioned if “Twitter adheres to the principle of free speech.”

Before joining the Twitter board, Musk had even asked the Twitterati if they wanted an Edit Button in a poll, with 74% of users taking part in the poll answering a ‘Yes’ while 26% went against the move.

The Twitter edit button has been in the news for a while now, and maybe the move will come to fruition with Musk onboard. However, Jack Dorsey was against the idea of having an edit button on the microblogging platform.
