I will resign as Twitter CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job: Elon Musk

It’s tough to keep Elon Musk out of the news for very long. He is not the wealthiest person in the world anymore, Tesla shares have taken a plunge, and his strategies for running Twitter have been criticized. No matter what he does, Elon Musk remains a hot topic. In the latest, Musk has confirmed he is ready to relinquish his position at Twitter.

Two days after running a Twitter poll asking users whether he should continue as the CEO, Elon Musk has confirmed that he is ready to resign if he finds something “foolish enough” to run the operations smoothly.

On December 19, Elon Musk tweeted a poll, “Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.” In a total of 17,502,391 votes, 57.5% of users wanted him to step down as CEO.

In reply to that poll, Musk tweeted, “I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software & servers teams.”

There have been rumours that Musk’s intense involvement with Twitter has angered Tesla’s stockholders.

Media reports suggest that Tesla’s stock has not been performing well, with the stock price reportedly falling by 50% from the previous year to a 52-week low.

Americans do not want Musk to resign

In another poll conducted by global consumer and voter research company HarrisX, 61% of American Twitter users and 53% of American individuals 18 years of age want Musk to stay on as a chief operating officer.

“The findings of the study debunk the results of Elon Musk’s Twitter poll on whether or not he should step down as CEO and provide a representative, statistically relevant perspective of what Twitter users and Americans think of his leadership. A majority would like Mr. Musk to remain on as head of Twitter, with over 6 in 10 Twitter users expressing that sentiment,” said Dritan Nesho, CEO of HarrisX and chief researcher.
