Apple Explores Partnership with Top News Outlets for GenAI Training

In recent weeks, Apple has initiated discussions with major news and publishing organizations, seeking approval to integrate their content into the company’s development of generative artificial intelligence systems, according to a report by the New York Times.

According to the report, Apple has proposed multiyear agreements valued at a minimum of $50 million to secure licensing rights for news article archives.

The news outlets approached by Apple include Conde Nast, the publisher of Vogue and the New Yorker; NBC News; IAC, the owner of People, the Daily Beast; and Better Homes and Gardens, The New York Times reported.

However, the report suggests that some publishers responded indifferently to the tech giant’s proposal.

In the broader context, major tech companies have been aggressively investing in the integration of generative AI. On the other hand, Apple has leveraged this technology to enhance fundamental features in its latest devices.

The company unveiled new MacBook Pro and iMac computers and three new chips to power them in October. The company emphasized that these chips could benefit artificial intelligence researchers, whose creations, including chatbots, are often constrained by computer memory limitations.
