During the 46th annual general meeting (AGM) of Reliance Industries, Chairman Mukesh Ambani shared the company’s strategic vision for artificial intelligence advancements. Addressing attendees, Ambani highlighted the transformative potential of AI, emphasizing its imminent impact on industries, economies, and daily life.

“A global AI Revolution is reshaping the world around us, and sooner than we think, intelligent applications will redefine and revolutionize industries, economies, and even our daily life,” Ambani said.

‘India must harness AI’

Ambani underscored Reliance Industries’ commitment to embracing the AI Revolution by rapidly expanding its talent pool and capabilities. The company is dedicated to integrating the latest global artificial intelligence innovations, particularly the recent strides in Generative AI, to maintain its global competitive edge. “India must harness artificial intelligence for innovation, growth, and national prosperity,” Ambani emphasized.

In his address, Mukesh Ambani also discussed Jio Platforms’ pivotal role in shaping India’s AI landscape. The company aspires to lead in developing India-specific AI models and solutions across various domains, making artificial intelligence accessible and beneficial to Indian citizens, businesses, and the government. However, Ambani noted that to unlock AI’s potential, India needs a robust digital infrastructure capable of handling its computational demands.

“India has the scale. India has the data. India has the talent. But we also need digital infrastructure in India that can handle AI’s immense computational demands,” he said.

A promise to the nation

Ambani outlined Reliance Industries’ goal to establish up to 2000 MW of artificial intelligence-ready computing capacity in a resolute commitment, spanning both Cloud and Edge locations. This strategic initiative aligns with the company’s dedication to sustainable practices and a greener future.

As the AGM progressed, Ambani touched on the importance of sustainability in pursuing artificial intelligence excellence. He shared a promise to the nation: “Seven years ago, Jio promised broadband connectivity to everyone, everywhere. We have delivered. Today, Jio promises AI to everyone, everywhere. And we shall deliver.”

As a country with a burgeoning technology ecosystem, India is positioning itself to harness the power of artificial intelligence for economic growth, social development, and innovation. Industries such as healthcare, agriculture, finance, manufacturing, education, and transportation are all ripe for AI-driven advancements.
