Meta Platforms announced it will introduce invisible watermarking to its text-to-image generation product, Imagine, with Meta AI chatbot in the coming weeks to improve transparency.
In late September, the social media company launched products integrated with artificial intelligence (AI) for consumers. These include bots capable of generating photo-realistic images and smart glasses designed to answer queries.
In a blog post, Meta stated, “We aim to bring invisible watermarking to many of our products with AI-generated images in the future.” The company emphasized that this technology is resilient to common image manipulations such as cropping, screenshots, etc.
The fame of ChatGPT, the chatbot developed by OpenAI and backed by Microsoft, has prompted companies to harness the capabilities of large language models to create AI-driven products. This strategic move aims to attract new investors, drive innovation, maintain old customer relationships, and foster engagement with new clients.
Meta developed Meta AI using a customized model derived from the robust Llama 2 large language model, which the company made publicly available for commercial application in July.
Currently, the company is experimenting with over 20 new applications of generative AI to enhance user experiences across its various social media platforms like Instagram and WhatsApp.
Based in Menlo Park, California, Meta is expanding availability to imagine beyond chats, introducing it to users in the U.S. Simultaneously, the company is also testing to enhance search abilities across its diverse range of products.
