Meta might have taken a 30% hit in its revenues in the last quarter, but the latest earnings call shows it is not as gloomy as it seems. In good news for the company, Facebook has surpassed a significant milestone and now has crossed 2 billion daily active users.
According to the earnings call report, the number of active users on Facebook and the family of programs developed by Meta, including Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp. While Facebook had 2 billion daily active users (4% year-over-year growth), the Meta app family averaged 2.96 billion visitors (5% year-over-year growth).
Facebook saw an average of 2.96 billion active users every month. In the meantime, the Meta app family averaged 3.74 billion monthly active users.
“Our community continues to grow, and I’m pleased with the strong engagement across our apps. Facebook just reached the milestone of 2 billion daily active users. The number of people daily using Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp is the highest it’s ever been,” CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a statement.
Zuckerberg emphasized the contributions of the well-known short video Reels and Meta’s AI-based features for the company’s progress.
“The progress we’re making on our AI discovery engine and Reels are major drivers of this. Beyond this, our management theme for 2023 is the ‘Year of Efficiency,’ and we’re focused on becoming a stronger and more nimble organization,” Zuckerberg said.
As of December 31, 2022, India is one of the top three countries contributing to increasing Facebook’s active users.
According to the firm, there will be an average of 2 billion daily active users (DAUs) worldwide in December 2022, up from 1.93 billion in December 2021.
“Users in India, the Philippines, and Bangladesh represented the top three sources of growth in DAUs during December 2022, relative to the same period in 2021,” Meta said.
A registered and logged-in Facebook user who accessed Facebook via its website or a mobile device or utilized the Messenger app (and is also a registered Facebook user) on a specific day is defined by the company as a daily active user.
By December 31, 2022, there were 2.96 billion monthly active users (MAUs), a 2% increase from December 31, 2021.
India was among the top three donors in terms of monthly active users.
“Users in India, Nigeria, and Bangladesh represented the top three sources of growth in 2022, relative to the same period in 2021,” Meta mentioned in its earnings call.
