Dyson has announced it is working on a series of robot prototypes that are capable of doing household chores. Dyson gave a glimpse into the future of household robots for the first time at the International Conference on Robotics and Automation in Philadelphia.
The household appliance company has released a short video on social media platforms to showcase prototypes as the technology company seeks to attract engineers in robotics to join its growing team.
“Dyson employed its first roboticist 20 years ago, and this year alone, we are seeking 250 more experts for our team. This is a ‘big bet’ on future robotic technology that will drive research across the whole of Dyson, in areas including mechanical engineering, vision systems, machine learning, and energy storage. We need the very best people in the world to come and join us now,” Jake Dyson, Chief Engineer at Dyson.
In 2014, the company introduced its first robotic floor vacuum cleaner, making its intentions clear about creating robots in the future. Dyson is best known for developing household appliances like vacuum cleaners and air purifiers.
Now, the Singapore-based multinational company aims to develop “an autonomous device capable of household chores and other tasks.” The company will likely release the commercial version of its prototype devices by 2030.
